Crop Progress Update – 7/26/21
According to the USDA, the percentage of corn and soybeans identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 25th each declined from the previous week, consistent with analyst expectations.
Corn:
Corn silking as of the week ending Jul 25th was 79% complete, finishing equal to last year’s pace and ahead of the five year average pace of 73% completed.
An additional 23% of the total U.S. corn crop exhibited silking during the week ending Jul 25th. Weekly increases in corn silking on a percentage basis were led by Delaware, followed by South Dakota and Michigan.
Corn dough as of the week ending Jul 25th was 18% complete, finishing slightly behind last year’s pace of 20% completed but slightly ahead of the five year average pace of 17% completed.
64% of the current corn crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 25th, down one percent from the previous week. The current corn crop identified to be in good or excellent condition finished equal to analyst expectations. Ten percent of the current corn crop was identified to be in very poor or poor condition, up one percent from the previous week.
Soybeans:
Soybean blooming as of the week ending Jul 25th was 76% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 74% completed and the five year average pace of 71% completed.
An additional 13% of the total U.S. soybean crop bloomed during the week ending Jul 25th. Weekly increases in soybean blooming on a percentage basis were led by Delaware, followed by North Dakota and South Dakota.
Soybean pod setting as of the week ending Jul 25th was 42% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 40% completed and the five year average pace of 36% completed.
58% of the current soybean crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jul 25th, down two percent from the previous week. The current soybean crop identified to be in good or excellent condition finished equal to analyst expectations. 12% of the current soybean crop was identified to be in very poor or poor condition, up one percent from the previous week.
