According to USDA, corn dough, dent, maturation & harvest figures and soybean leaf dropping figures remained significantly below previous year levels through the third week of September. The current corn crop identified to be in good or excellent condition increased two percent from the previous week, finishing above analyst expectations, while the current soybean crop identified to be in good or excellent condition was unchanged from the previous week, finishing consistent with analyst expectations.
Corn:
Corn dough as of the week ending Sep 22nd was 96% percent complete, finishing behind last year’s pace of 100% and the five year average pace of 100%. Corn dough progress finished tied for the lowest seasonal pace experienced on record.
Corn dent as of the week ending Sep 22nd was 79% complete, finishing behind last year’s pace of 96% and the five year average pace of 94%. Corn dent progress finished at a 27 year low seasonal figure.
Corn maturation as of the week ending Sep 22nd was 29% complete, finishing behind last year’s pace of 69% and the five year average pace of 57%. Corn maturation progress finished at a ten year low seasonal figure.
Corn harvest progress as of the week ending Sep 22nd was seven percent complete, finishing behind last year’s pace of 15% and the five year average pace of 11%. Corn harvest progress finished tied for the lowest seasonal pace experienced throughout the past ten years.
