Planting Progress Update – 7/11/16
According to USDA, corn and soybean conditions were slightly improved from the previous week, remaining favorable to previous year levels.
Corn:
Over three quarters of the corn crop remains in good or excellent condition during the week ending Jul 10th, with 19% of the corn crop identified as fair. These figures were slightly improved from the previous week and remain favorable when compared to previous year figures.
Corn silking stood at 32% during the week ending Jul 10th, up from 23% experienced during the previous year and the five year average figure of 26%.
Soybeans:
71% of the soybean crop was deemed good or excellent during the week ending Jul 10th, with 23% of the soybean crop identified as fair. These figures were slightly improved from the previous week and remain favorable when compared to the previous year, when only 62% of the soybean crop was identified as good or excellent.
Soybean blooming stood at 40% during the week ending Jul 10th, up from 33% experienced during the previous year and the five year average figure of 31%. Seven percent of soybeans have set pods during the week ending Jul 10th, up from five percent during the previous year and a five year average figure of five percent.
