Planting Progress Update – 7/5/16
According to USDA, corn and soybean conditions remain favorable to previous year levels, largely unchanged from the previous week.
Corn:
Three quarters of the corn crop remains in good or excellent condition during the week ending Jul 3rd, with 20% of the corn crop identified as fair. These figures were unchanged from the previous week and favorable when compared to previous year figures.
Corn silking stood at 15% during the week ending Jul 3rd, up from 10% experienced during the previous year and the five year average figure of 13%.
Soybeans:
70% of the soybean crop was deemed good or excellent during the week ending Jul 3rd, with 23% of the soybean crop identified as fair. These figures were down slightly from the previous week but remain favorable when compared to the previous year, when only 63% of the soybean crop was identified as good or excellent.
Soybean blooming stood at 22% during the week ending Jul 3rd, up from 17% experienced during the previous year and the five year average figure of 16%.
