Planting Progress Update – 6/27/16
According to USDA, corn and soybean conditions remain favorable to previous year levels, largely unchanged from the previous week.
Corn:
Three quarters of the corn crop remains in good or excellent condition during the week ending Jun 26th, with 20% of the corn crop identified as fair. These figures were largely unchanged from the previous week and favorable when compared to previous year figures.
Soybeans:
With soybean plantings 96% complete through the week ending Jun 19th, attention turns to emergence and condition figures. Soybean emergence for the week ending Jun 26th was reported at 95% compared to an 88% emergence rate experienced last year and a five year average emergence rate of 91%.
72% of the soybean crop was deemed good or excellent during the week ending Jun 26th, with 23% of the soybean crop identified as fair. These figures were largely unchanged from the previous week and favorable when compared to the previous year, when only 63% of the soybean crop was identified as good or excellent.
