U.S. Livestock & Meat Trade Update – Apr ’18
Executive Summary
U.S. livestock and meat trade figures provided by USDA were recently updated with values spanning through Feb ’18. Highlights from the updated report include:
- Feb ’18 net pork trade increased on a YOY basis for the sixth consecutive month, finishing up 9.0%. Pork export volumes increased on a YOY basis for the 21st time in the past 22 months, finishing at a record seasonal high for the month of February.
- Net beef & veal trade finished at a positive level for the fifth time in the past six months during Feb ’18 as export volumes reached a record seasonal high for the month of February.
- Net broiler trade increased on a YOY basis for the first time in the past three months during Feb ’18, finishing up 1.0%, as export volumes finished at a four year seasonal high for the month of February.
